HEAVY SENTENCES IMPOSED FOR HOUSTON ROBBERIES to The News. Houston, Tex., July young men who confessed to .a ae- ries of bold robberies, received a heavy total of sentences crimi- nal district court today, and unless clemency is extended, them, they will be old men when they are free again. The men are Paul Whltehurst, Herbert Botschon and J. E. White- hurst, brother of Paul. For robbing C. F. Kognig, store- keeper at 3318 Canal, of S35 at the ioints of their pistola, Paul Whlte- urst' and Botschon were given twenty years each for a starter. The three were sentenced to ten years each for the robbery of the A. P. store at 5101 Harrisburg- boulevard, several weeks aeo, and five years each for the robbery of an A. P. store at 4821 Main street boulevard. te News. Houston, Tex.. July Wes' End baseball park, formerly used by the Houston tea.ni in the Texas League, has been purchased by the board of education as an athletic field for the Houston schools. The consideration Is The West End Park purchase is part of a plan to build a schoo center in that neighborhood. The board has an option on acres of adjoining land, owned by the Rice Institute, This latter tract is now the Humble Oil find Refining Company baseball dlumond ant tennis courts. The option expires in May. 1929. In addition to the use of the acre- age as a big athletic field, tho board plans to establish an educa- tional center on part of the land. A new central high school a junior college building, and an ad- ministration building for tho school system are contemplated.
